Understanding the Seventieth (70th) week of Daniel

Today we review the understanding of the last week, the 70th week of Daniel 9:26.

Dan 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof [shall be] with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolation are determined.

I shall make it as short as possible as it is not necessary to revisit the grounds already covered by Brother Branham in preaching of The Seventy Weeks of Daniel, the Seals and Question and Answers (Q&A) on the Seals and the four days of Q&A in 1964. In my article on Future Home, the first chart depicted that purple marking of the possible covenant between the Roman Catholic Church (and I have to use Roman Catholic instead of Catholic Church because the word catholic means Universal. I have said in earlier articles, we are the original Apostolic Catholic Church, and not the denominational Roman Catholic Church or the Eastern Orthodox portion which comprises most of the Russian Orthodox and Syrian and Greek Orthodox as well). And that because we follow the apostolic doctrine of full imersion in water baptism in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ according to Acts 2:38.

There is a question on the understanding of what was preached particularly whether there remains the last half of the 70th week or the full week which are 7 years. One week representing 7 years was established by the years it took to finish the temple in the 1st seven week (49 years, hence 1 week=1 year) which is the beginning week of Daniel's 70 weeks.

Dan 9:25         Know therefore and understand, [that] from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince [shall be] seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

We follow some simple guidelines. In hearing the tapes (nowadays of course they are in MP3 format. Still we refer to them as taped sermons). We reckoned that the newest (lastest) clarification by Brother Branham settles us in understanding. Why is this important? It has been said that Brother Branham received fuller understanding after the opening of the Seals which he preached consecutively for seven days from 18^th to 24^th March 1963 for each day being visited by a messenger who revealed the unwritten account covering modern events made clear by prophesies of the old and new testament. The unscriptural claim on the other hand, that he revised his doctrine is not sustainable and is incorrect because a prophet can only speak what God anointed him to speak. For example with the prophet Isaiah telling Hezekiah that God had heard his prayers by extending him 15 years longer instead of setting his house in order preparing to die (2Kings 20:6). God said, He changeth not and we say Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. For all things work together for good to them that love God, who are the called according to His purpose.

In addition, a clear cut guide line is to know without a shadow of doubt that only God can confirm, can do away with the temple worship and Satan has no power to do that but can only pervert or destroy or cause harm to the believers. Hence the term confirmed the covenant to many means confirming the covenant to the Royal Seed of Abraham or all believers, as per the three sons of Noah, Shem, Japheth and Ham or Jews, Samritans and Gentiles. Is God confirming His grace Covenant with Abraham by giving us a prophet ending with "Ham", the fifth Hebrew alphabet "heth" or "h" inserted in his name as were in Sarah's and Abraham's names. Five being the number of Grace. The words Faith and Jesus also with five letters. Ham meaning "father of". If Abraham means father of many nations, what is Branham but "father of stored food" (Bran!).

Brother Branham said after Sixty-nine weeks (threescore and two plus the seven weeks), the Messiah shall be cut off. Isn't it plain that the word “after” means just that, after the sixty-nine weeks not “on” or “exactly” but “AFTER”. We who believe that Messiah was cut off AFTER the sixty-ninth week know instantly it had to be the first half week of the 70^th week.

What about the “prince” that shall come shall destroy the city and the Sanctuary? Our Lord Jesus did not destroy the sanctuary. It was General Titus (picture on your right) in approximately 70 AD who came and destroyed the sanctuary fulfilling the prophecy of Mathew 13, 24 and Luke 21:6. Was General Titus, the people of the prince? Remember Jesus is called the Prince of Peace, not prince of peace. A big capital “P”. And He said in Mark 13:2:-

Mar 13:2 And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

We learned from Brother Branham how these verses were fulfilled. That in the burning of the temple, the gold in the temple melted and gold hunters came looking for every ounce (grams if you like) melted gold leaving no stone unturned to search for the precious metal.

Now in the following paragraph we are going to see how the prophet brings out the subject of having only 3 1/2 years for the second part of that 70th week and how the covenant between the prince and the Jews are to be made and where is that time frame. Were there two covenants? One the Messaih being cut off and the other the prince not Prince that formed the covenant with the Jews? Is the word Covenant exclusive only to the pack formed between the two entities ? Did Brother Branham use the word Covenant when referring to the first 3 1/2 years? In the Q&A session, this was his answer:-

297 370. Brother Branham, when you gave the message on the seventy church weeks--seventy weeks (Pardon me.) of Daniel, I believe that you mentioned that the full--the full last week or last seven years will begin when the Bride was taken in the rapture.

No, no, no, no, no, nah, nah, nah. You got that wrong (See?), not the full seven weeks. The--the week started when Jesus came on earth. He said, "The Messiah, Prince, shall come and prophesy, and in the midst of the seven weeks, He'll be cut off." And Jesus preached exactly three and one half years, which is half of the seventy weeks, the seven days, week--weekdays. See? And there's three and one half years left.
Now, when Moses and Elijah comes on earth, which is Revelations and Zechariah... (Brother Coomer your--your and Sister Coomer's question there was--was in the same.) Now, when they... When Zechariah 4 and Revelations 11, them two olive trees and so forth--which is Moses and Elijah--when they come on earth they prophesy 1,264 (editor: 1,260) days. What is it? Exactly three and one half years. There's exactly the same thing. Not... See? Ever who this dear person is. Very, very, beautiful, wrote--wrote on paper with religious head write--lines here and things, and it's very fine. And it's a very nice question, but (See?) you didn't get it, just what I said. Never did I believe that the whole seventy weeks would be over here. Messiah's cut off. How many remembers that in preaching up here? Certainly. See? Seven weeks.

(editor: Now pause for some minutes and meditate on what he just said. The two witnesses mentioned in Zechariah 4 are the same witnesses as Rev. 11, the two olive trees. Some said the two trees were the old and new testament but the opening of the Seals clarified that once and for all).

Since then, it seems like the first three and one half years was fulfilled during the ministry (Well, here you've got it right here.) of--of Jesus, but the expression, "midst of the weeks" seems to be applied only to the antichrist breaking his covenant with the... (No, that antichrist breaks his covenant at the end of the last three and one half years. See?) As I understood Daniel tape, the first sixty-nine weeks ended when Jesus rode into Jerusalem A. D. 30, so that three and one half years of His ministry would be included in the sixty-nine week's; and the full last weeks--and the full last week or seven years would still be fulfilled and would begin at the rapture. Please clarify this for me.

You know, brother, sister, ever who it is that's asked this question. Very fine (See?), but I believe you got a little mixed up on what I said. See? Now, the--when Jesus came into Jerusalem (That is exactly right.), that was the end of... See? He went right straight in from there and was crucified. See? And He--He did prophesy half of the seventy weeks which is three and one half. Now, He was cut off, and His soul was made a sacrifice. And now, there would come then... In this last days, there's three and one half years still promised to the--the Jews. And the--in--during this time was a gathering up of the saints for the rapture, the church.
Now, I ain't going to get all these through, brother--brother, sister.

(editor: did you read these two answers carefully? He said the 2^nd half of that 70^th week, the 1260 days, or 42 months were the fulfillment of the remaining 3 1/2 years. There are no seven years left, only 3 1/2 years. In the face of such simple and profound statement, I really do not understand why some insisted that there are seven years left? Are they saying the prophet is wrong? Or are they saying we understood it wrong? How about you? Can you go through the same text and say what the tape says?

Are there two revelation of this simple presentation? That Brother Branham don't mean what he said or simply that they (the claimants of new revelations)  think their interpretations are more accurate than this prophet? In other words, are they saying God spoke to them today to correct His own prophet? Please don't go that route. That is death! Because the person telling you this is substituting himself as the new interpreter of the Word which has to be a prophet. In other words, these are saying that they are that eighth messengers. Worst are those who claimed to be one of the seven voices that thundered. A thunder voice which deny the Word of God?

Let us consider who will be caught up into the Rapture? Those who are going to hear the seven men voices? That is not in the bible! No, the saints will be the ones. The Royal Seed of Abraham, by Faith. Who amongst us have that faith once delivered to the Saints? The Bride, the Wise Virgins with oil in their lamps. Do you know what Brother Branham said the oil represents?

2Th 2:7         For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth [will let], until he be taken out of the way.

Did not Jesus asked His disciples to tarry in Jerusalem UNTIL they are endued with POWER from on high? Can we go in any other way? Without the Wedding garment as one did and was told he was not even an invited guest. Don't be caught speechless.

Mat 22:12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

Why can't they just accept the clear statement made by Brother Branham in the Q&A of 1964 which are after the Seals. Are you aware that Brother Branham himself got to hear his own sermons to know what he preached for that day, because under the anointing, he spoke as inspired and had to repeat the hearing of the tapes to ascertain what the spirit said to the church so that he knows the mind of God.

If Brother Branham got to do that, what more need we to do the same. Now do you know why some of the false anointed ones don't want you to hear the message in its original form? These dry wells tell you the message is old manna and theirs are new? Are they saying they are the new Moses? Did Joshua fed the Israelite with new manna after Moses left him to be in charge? No, it was God who rained the same Manna till they entered the promised land and then they began to eat of the fruit of the land. There is no new or old manna. Are we in the promised land now? If yes, you should not need to labour any longer. Don't stress yourselves out. Be at peace. Because if we say we are in the promised land now, it is the same as saying we are in the Milennium.

Jhn 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

We go through the Seals sermon and pick out the important key points so that you are aware of the time sequence of each event. In reading the first seal, it may appear to some that he identified the prince as the AntiChrist who broke that covenant in the midst of the week but careful and attentive listening will tell you that the breaking of the covenant comes at the end of the 2^nd half of the 70^th week and that all the events happening to the Jews are  after the dispensation or times of the Gentiles. The church is gone. We won't be around to witness that covenant between the Antichrist and the Jews. That man of sin sitting in the temple of God calling himself God and forgiving sins, one who gave himself a crown in the second church age of Smyrna Age, the same one who is the White horse rider of the first seal? Had a bow but no arrows. A bluff. A false prophet.

(Now, watch.)... and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the obligations to cease,... for the over spreading of abomination he shall make it desolate, even unto the consummation, and that determined shall be poured out upon the desolate.

Watch. Oh, what a shrewd thing he is. Here he is. Now, we got our picture and know that he's Rome. We know that he's the white horse rider. We know that he went forth as a doctrine. And then what was pagan Rome? Converted into papal Rome and crowned.

(editor's note: Bear in mind that "here he is" refers to the spreading of abomination and making desolation not the confirming of the covenant as we said the devil has no power to confirm or to let but to destroy or spread abominations).

She's the only one that's got the money; she can do it, and she will do it. And in doing this to get it, she'll compromise with the Jews and make a covenant, and when she makes this covenant with the Jews... Now, remember, I'm taking this from the Scriptures. And now, when she does this and makes this covenant, we notice in Daniel 8:23 and 25 he will cause craft to prosper (And craft is manufacturing.), in his hand.

169-6 {359} Now, when he gets the money all under control, then he will break this covenant with the Jews, as Daniel here said he would do it, … He will have all of the world trade and the commerce, a pact with the world, 'cause he will hold the wealth of the world completely. And during that time, them two prophets will rise on the scene and call that hundred and forty-four thousand. Then what will take place? Then the mark of the beast of Revelations 13 will set in, 'cause he holds all the commerce, trade and everything of the world. And what will take place then? The mark of the beast will come in that no man can buy or sell except him that has the mark of the beast. Thank God, the Church will be enjoying a great three and a half years in glory. ²¹⁴  Now, here's a little thing; we're going to reverse back a minute, where the three and a half years or Daniel's seventy weeks (the last half of Daniel's seventy weeks which is three and one-half years.)... Now, we... How many remembers that from the church ages? Sure, you see? There's seventy weeks determined: look how perfect it was; said, "Messiah will come, and He'll be cut off for a Sacrifice in the midst of the week, and the obligation will cease."

  505-4  {293}    ...  Now, watch here. I said they might want to consolidate together on the money, and the--and the Roman power take the Jewish power in--of money, breaking the covenant. That might not be so. See, I know they'll break it, but I--I don't know what reason, 'cause it's not revealed to me about what they'll do.
But look. Now, if today... Now, what if today, the only thing that we can do would be to do... If we're drawing taxes, if that statement is right, off of the currency off of the tax money of forty years from now... You see, our gold is... We've done spent it. We're broke. We don't have any money; and we're only living off of a past reputation.

In summary, we see from these quotes or excerpts, we got a clearer understanding of the time frame for all the events to transpire. But rest assured the Lord promise that He will prepare a place for us. There is no safety in taking men's interpretations claiming they are the special ones, especially those who claimed they are with the thunders, We know the seven stars are already identified by the prophet messenger to Laodicea. Hear the tapes for yourselves and do not take any man's reinterpretations. Pray that when you hear the tape, that God will reveal to you what the spirit saith to the churches. Remember, only the Holy Spirit can confirm, can let and can permit. The false ones can only pervert or destroy and deceive.

(Now it was said that Brother Branham got Sister Becky to draw out the chart as I posted it,  when he preached Daniel Seventy Weeks and that the chart showed the last seven years, the complete 70th week to be at the end instead of what he clarified that it was only 3 1/2 years. To me, there is no discrepancy because under the anointing of preaching, the Sprit draws out the truth which I presented above for all to consider. The decision to study it yourself or just ignore it is up to you, the reader). I rest assured that I have presented a fair view of all the missing elements in understanding the years left.
