First Doctrine of Jesus

Joh 3:1-13

(1) There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
(2) The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
(3) Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
(4) Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
(5) Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
(6) That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
(7) Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
(8) The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
(9) Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
(10) Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
(11) Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
(12) If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
(13) And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

«  207       †        Now remember, I believe that Jesus Christ says this to every human being on His first doctrine, "Except a man be born of the water (That's the Word, washing of the water by the Word.) and of the Spirit (which is the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit confirming the Word), he cannot see the Kingdom of heaven." Do you believe that? See? Of the water, washing of the water by the Word, Word and Truth, He is the Truth. Water and Spirit, the Spirit coming with the Word to confirm the Word, making God live in me... See? We cannot understand the Kingdom of heaven till that's happened. Then when that begins to happen, that we see the Word in us, born of the Word and of the Spirit, manifesting Itself, leading me not away from the Word; the Spirit leads me to the Word, and the Word living in me, making God manifest in your life, you'll never understand the Kingdom of God and can no wise enter into it. Next the Old Testament verses:-

Eze 36:24-28
(24)  For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land.
(25)  Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
(26)  A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
(27)  And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
(28)  And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

This means there is first the cleansing by the water of the Word. Then there is a living and obedience to the Word and Spirit. Then God said, He will give us of His Spirit (which is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and not just anointing, because there must first come a cleansing by Fire).

There is therefore, these three stages of grace, Justiication, Sanctification and Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Scholars would recognize that Luther (Germany) was Justification, Wesley (England) was Sanctification and the Pentecostal (Los Angeles, USA) was the baptism of the Holy Spirit and finally, the blossoming of the fully grown Seed, the Word (The heaven speaking, As John the Baptist was sent to fore run MY First Coming, so are you sent with a message to fore run MY Second Coming). Who was John the Baptist? He was that Elias that was promised to come in Malachi 3. And we know the same Voice speaking about William Branham fore running His Second Coming fulfilling Malachi 4, because the End is at hand. That is before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. Notice the gospel coming out of Jerusalem, towards Asia Minor, France, then Germany, crossed the English Channel to England and crossing the Atlantic to the East Coast of the United States, into the midland and finally God leading the end time prophet to the West Coast of the United States, as the Sun rises from the East and sets in the West, so is the Sun of Righteousness rising with healing in His wings. Taking Luke 14:16-21 in conjunction with Malachi 4:2, there went forth a mighty healing ministry spearheading the Oral Roberts and Tommy Osborn world wide ministries but still not comparable to that of the end time messenger, William Branham who was the inspiration behind these two.

2) The Message explains this New Birth again:-

«  E-31       †        Now, the elements that came from the body of Jesus was water, blood, spirit. What come from His natural body is what constitutes the new birth. What's--what is when a baby's born, what's the first thing happens? (Excuse me, my sisters.) What's the first thing happen? Water breaks. What's the next thing? Blood. What's the next thing? Life. Exactly right.
What constitutes the natural birth is a type of the spiritual birth. What is the first thing? Water, it's waters of separation: justification by faith as Brother read the Scripture this morning, Romans 8--or Romans 5, justification by faith. What's the next thing? The cleansing, sanctification. Taking the--the mug and justifying it is picking it up. Sanctifying it is cleansing it. Then it's ready for filling of the Holy Spirit. See? The Word "sanctify," is a word, means "cleaned and set aside for service," but not in service.
There's where I dif... You brother Nazarenes and Pilgrim Holiness, that thinks that sanctification is the entire work of the Holy Spirit, it is not. Sanctification cleanses you, but the Holy Spirit fills you. The glass is set aside for service, but not in service until it's put in service by the Holy Ghost and filled with the Holy Ghost. See? That's it.

The bible in the New Testament:

Act 1:4-8
(4)  And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
(5)  For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
(6)  When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
(7)  And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
(8)  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

3) The Message. Ye must be born again!

«  69       †        Now, it must die. Now, that don't mean turn a new page now, this new year. You say, "Brother Branham, I've been coming here for a long time. I've been a member of the church. This New Year's I'm going to turn a new page and start new. That don't mean that. Not turn a new page, but actually die and be born again. See? You've got to feel so guilty when you stand in His Presence. Whether you go the Methodist way, or the Baptist way, or whatever way you go, you've got to be so guilty and feel so guilty till you... It'll kill you. That's right. You--it'll kill you. Your worldly life will die right there. You've got to reckon yourself so guilty in the Presence of God until your worldly life dies right there. The--the sin question's over for you when you're standing in His Presence. When you look like that, you're sure to live, because you die. And the only way you can live again is to be--die first so you can live again.
Now, you see what I'm coming to, don't you (See that?), what the birth is, the new birth. First, to die, in order to be born again... And if you still got the things of the world in you, you're not born again. And how you going to claim to be born again and still with the things of the world hanging on you? See? How can you do it?

The bible:-

Rom 6:1  What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
Rom 6:2  God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Rom 6:3  Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Rom 6:4  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Rom 6:5  For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Rom 6:6  Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Rom 6:7  For he that is dead is freed from sin.
Rom 6:8  Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
Rom 6:9  Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
Rom 6:10  For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
Rom 6:11  Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Rom 6:12  Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Rom 6:13  Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
Rom 6:14  For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Rom 6:15  What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

4)There is this story of the Prodigal Son and the message story of the Eagle's egg. I will leave this for the next post as I do not want to overwhelm the discussion. Next we break into his sermons of Greatest Battle ever fought and Knoweth it not, why there are two accounts of Body, Soul and Spirit, and later Body, Spirit and Soul. This too will be covered in the next posts as the Holy Spirit leads.

Only one of the two receives the Holy Spirit..Compare Moses and Balaam. Both were prophets, heard from God and know how to approach God, but Balaam could not resist the promises of reward of honour and position, wanting the glitter, of being great and renown in the world, but he rejected the reward of God and traded it for titles and praises of men. Contrast this with Moses who forsook the riches of Egypt to heed God's call. Balaam wanted a kingdom of his own...even lesser than Moab, as Balak, the King of Moah cannot offer him more than what he already got. Moses gave up the Mighty Kingdom of Egypt (the super power at that time)  to become a Hebrew slave.

Contrast also Jacob and Esau. Jacob knew the Birthright carried the promise of God to Abraham, "that he shall possess the gates of his enemies" and in that one promise are all the promises of goodness, mercy and salvation which comes with being born of the Spirit. In the natural, the water broke first in the womb, the blood next and when the baby came through that channel, God give the newborn, the Spirit of Life. So a live birth in the natural consists of these three elements....or processes, Water, Blood and Spirit. They agree in one but are not one because a person can be justified, but not sanctified, sanctified but not filled with the Holy Spirit.

« 48 † Now we understand, also, that God is perfected in threes. Now, God is "perfected" in three. "Grace" is five. Seven is "completion," like the world.

God is perfected in Father, Son, Holy Ghost. That's the perfection of the Godhead. All one God, in three manifestations, of three attributes of one office, or three offices in the one Godhead.

49 Now, there is also three in perfection, of the steps of grace, to the Church; justification, sanctification, baptism of the Holy Ghost. That consists of the New Birth, just like a natural birth is typed by it. Which, a woman giving birth to a child, the first thing comes forth is water, blood, and then life.

The Bible said, in First John 5:7, or 7:5, I believe it is, that said, "There are three that bear record in Heaven; the Father, the Word," which was the Son, "and the Holy Ghost; these three are One. There are three that bear witness in the earth;" the Word, "the water, blood, and Spirit. Water, blood, and Spirit; these three agree in one."

« 50 † Now, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, are One. You can't have the Father without having the Son; you can't have the Son without having the Holy Ghost. But you can be justified without being sanctified; you can be sanctified without being filled with the Holy Ghost. We have proved that in the order of nature.

51 Now, and many of you, maybe, I may be strange to you. And I--I'm without education; I'm sure you already understand. But I teach in types, as the natural types the spiritual.

52 Now, we see that there are three in the perfection. God is perfected in three's, now. And that was, in the perfection of the seed of Abraham, was Ishmael, Isaac, Jesus. Ishmael coming from the bondwoman, Isaac coming from the freewoman, and both of them with sex; but Christ Jesus coming from the virgin, no sex.

« 53 † Here, the "Seed," one, one Seed; not seeds, but one Seed. These others were not seed of Abraham, because Abraham "Seed" was his faith Seed that God was speaking of, not his natural seed. Because, after Sarah died, Abraham married another woman and had seven sons, besides daughters. So it wouldn't be Abraham's seeds, it was Abraham "Seed," one. And that was Abraham's faith Seed, pointing to the Royal Seed that was to come through Abraham's faith; not Abraham's natural life, but Abraham's spiritual life; who took everything contrary to God's Word and called it as though it was not, and believed God; against hope, believed in hope. That's the real Seed that we're speaking of.

See God's threefold purpose for the church. First, this unfolding of Christ through the ages until He was made flesh and according to 1 John 4, is come in the flesh ...and Second, even now, in His own Church, dwelling in human flesh, and giving them gifts into service for Him and Third, to live with His people into the Millennium and beyond.

The message and the bible say the same thing. Always. There are no contradiction. Because the Natural types the Spiritual:-

« 46 † Now, in First John 5:7, I believe it is, if I'm not mistaken, It said, "There are three that bear record in Heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost; these three are One. There are three that bear record in earth, that's water, Blood, and Spirit, and they agree in one." Now notice. The first three are One. The second three are earthly, which agree in one. Cannot have the Father without the Son; you cannot have the Son without having the Holy Ghost. But you can have the water without the Blood, and the Blood without the Spirit.

47 I think, through our ages, has proved this to be true; water, Blood, Spirit; justification, sanctification, the baptism of the Holy Spirit. That types, or makes the... or, and an antitype, which takes away from the natural birth.

48 Look when a--a woman or anything in travail, for birth. The first thing comes to pass, the breaking of the water, a normal birth; second thing is the blood; and then comes life. Water, blood, spirit; and that constitutes the normal, natural birth.

« 49 † And so is it in the spiritual realm. It's water; justification by faith, believing on God, receiving Him as your personal Saviour, and being baptized. Second, is sanctification of the spirit, that God cleanses the spirit from all elements of the world, and the desire of the world. And then the Holy Spirit comes in and gives new Birth and fills up that sanctified vessel.

50 For instance, like this. Now, that, I told you. What you don't believe, lay aside, then take the pie. Notice. Now, a--a glass is laying out in the chicken yard. You don't just pick that up and put on your table and fill it up with water or milk. No. By picking it up, is justification. Cleansing it, is sanctification, 'cause the Greek word sanctify is a compound word, which means "cleansed, and set aside for service." Not in service; for service. Then when you fill it, it is put in service.

Without the Spirit, according to the first doctrine of Jesus, one cannot see the Kingdom of God. And the bible said, the Kingdom of God is within you. So what is the Kingdom of God, likewise, the Kingdom of Heaven? See, John 1:13 said, the son of man IS in heaven, and we know that Jesus Christ was the son of man speaking to Nathaniel. And He told Nathaniel, the son of man IS (present tense) in Heaven. We therefore simply believe that “heaven is where the son of man IS”. And Paul addressed the church saying Sitting in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

  180      How do you get into Christ Jesus? By joining church? [Congregation says, "No."--Ed.] By a Birth! "By one Spirit," First Corinthians 12, "we are all baptized into one Body." See?
181    All right, that's the ones he's talking to. That ain't addressed to the outside world. We can't talk to the sinner on this, 'cause he knows nothing about it. Paul didn't address it to no sinners. He said, "This is to that--that--that Group there that's in Christ Jesus."
Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings (whereabouts?) in heavenly places in Christ:

  182  "Heavenly places." Oh, how I wish I had time! Here I've got it marked right here in my Bible, about Heavenly places, what is Heavenly places. Heavenly places, just for a moment, is "the believer's position in Christ," see, "where the believer stands in Christ," in Heavenly places.
According as he has chosen us... (listen close)... chosen us in him before the foundation of the world,...
183    When did He choose us? "Before the foundation of the world," when His great hidden mystery, His great secret.
... He chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in (what?) love:
Having (what?) predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

  184      "Predestinated!" There's the mystery. He, before Christ or anything else was ever on earth, you see His great mystery, that He chose the Bride. Knowing Eve would fall, from disbelieving the Word, knowing that she would fall; but He would choose a Bride that would not fall, that would hold to that Word regardless of what all the rest of the world had to say about It. They would hold to that Word! They are predestinated to stand there, "the adoption of children by Jesus Christ," predestinated the Church to that great, glorious stand!

  185      Now you see His secret? What to? To restore fallen Eve, as she was a prefigure of the Church. And now notice, as God opened up the side of Adam and took out Eve, by his own flesh and blood; and divided his spirit from masculine and feminish, to feminish, and put it in Eve. Took the rib from under his side, and made Eve out of it; so God did the same thing, taking out of the side of Christ, the Blood and the water. And Christ is the Word, and taking the Word and making up His Church, Eve; see, back to Himself again, redeemed by the Blood that was come from His Body. You see it now? [Congregation says, "Amen."--Ed.]
186    God's great mystery now being unfolded, that's been hid since the foundation of the world, but prefigured it all the way down through. Now watch, we find that, that He--that He did that. And here in Ephesians, and many other places, but that will give you enough to... Now, down through the ages, He has been slowly unfolding this mystery. Can you see now? Now, down through the...

  187      How did He? What happened in the prefigure now? He opened Adam's side and took part of his flesh, which was Adam, to make Eve. The Bride has to be the Word, for He is the Word. She cannot stand on creeds. She cannot stand on denomination. She cannot stand on good behavior. She has to stand alone on the Word, because She is part of It. She was taken from Christ. See?

  188      And to be sure, that, the whole Rapture now; Luther was a part, Wesley was a part, the prophets was a part. If they're--aren't a part... Just in the revelation that they was making up, the body, feet, toes, arms, and so forth, until the Head (which we get to that in a few minutes), see, that makes the entire Rapture. It's the Body of the Word, which is Christ. Amen!
189    Outside of That, you're lost. I don't care how good you are, or what your relationship is, or what your fellowship is, or what your organization is, you're lost, outside of that Word being in you.

  190      "If ye abide in Me, the Word, My Word abide in you, then you ask what you will," because you and the Word are the same. He has the preeminences. He's got the rulership. You're a... you're a prisoner to Him. The world is dead. You have nothing more... You see the rest of the people living the way they do, but yet you do not do it. You're a prisoner. You're yoked with Him. "My yoke is easy." Yoked with Christ, with His Word. "I do that only which the... pleases the Father. And if you can't believe that I am He, then believe the Word." So perfect! Notice.

  191      Notice now, down through the ages, He has been gradually letting this out, slowly unfolding the mystery, through the prophets and through the types. Now we can just go on to that, and, expressing Himself.
192    He expressed Hisself in Moses. Look at Moses. Born in the time of persecution of the children. He was born to be a deliverer. He was hid in the bulrushes, just like Jesus was taken down into Egypt. He came out. He went up on the mountain, come back with the commandments.
193    Jesus went up to the mountain, His first sermon, sermon on the mount, come back down with the commandments. "You heard them say, them of old times, 'Thou shalt not commit adultery.' I say to you, whoever look upon a woman, to lust after her, has committed adultery." Law-Giver, Priest, King, Leader, just exactly!

  194      He expressed Hisself in Joseph, born amongst denomination, his brethren. They hated him, without a cause, because he was spiritual. He saw visions. God was with him. He could interpret dreams. And his brothers hated him. He was sold for al-... by his brethren, by almost thirty pieces of silver. Just exactly like He was sold by Judas Iscariot, one of His brethren, by thirty pieces of silver. He was throwed into a ditch and supposed to been dead. That's right. The father and them was told that he was dead. That he's throwed into this ditch; taken up, and went to the right hand of Pharaoh.
195    In the dungeon, how he suffered there! And--and there was two saved... The butler and the baker, one of them lost and one was saved, rather. And the-the butler.....One of them was lost and the other one saved. Just as the cross, when He was in His prison house, of  tacked to the cross for our sins, become a prisoner, one thief was lost and one was saved. See, just exactly.  (to be continued...
